Bright Nautical-Style Attic Interior With Geometrical Accents

In this interior design project worked out for a family couple the designers managed to arrange a few functional zones within quite limited area: a bedroom, a lounge, a work space and a walk-in closet. This attic is filled with quite simple, yet very non-standard elements, bright colors and the mood of sea, summer and holidays.

The entire space is arranged in a bright color scheme and features many geometrical elements. Nautical blue and scarlet red are represented in quite unexpected spots that are traditionally kept neutral: doorways, skirting boards, window frames, doors and Roman blinds. Coupled with versatile furniture of fanciful geometry and multicolor parquetry with vivid herringbone pattern, they make this interior very lively and one-of-a-kind.

The re-design of this attic with the total area of 30 square meters the designers had to deal with quite challenging input data – low sloped ceilings with the height varying from 1.3 to 2.5 meters and non-standard shapes of the rooms. Initially these were 2 isolated rooms with separate exits. But the clients wished to have an integral space for spending time together, but with an option of privacy when their daily routines do not overlap.

Also among their wishes were a walk-in closet, a work area and a spot for watching TV. According to the hosts, the team met all their demands to the fullest.

Considering the non-standard shape of the space, the furnishing was destined to be also non-standard. Most of the pieces were custom-made under the designers’ sketches: the bed, the shelving unit in the headboard zone, a couple of arm-chairs with asymmetrical arm-rests that form a nice sofa when pushed together, the shelving unit in the work area, the walk-in closet, and the small coffee table.
